I Made A Wish & You Came True.  Love the Dandelion Wishes stamp set!  Create this wistful card by sponging the background and heat embossing the image and sentiment.  Clean, simple and beautiful.

Tips & Techniques

Create The Card Base

Create the card base using Pacific Point Cardstock.   This is a 5″x5″ card.

Creating The Background
  • Create a mask – use a die to cut a shape out of masking paper or post-it notes.  You can also use a scrap of paper and double-sided removeable tape.  The mask must be able to be removed after use and must be strong enough to not wrinkle or tear during use.  Center the mask on the piece of Whisper White cardstock you are using for the artwork.
  • Sponge on the background colors using sponge daubers, brushes or your favorite tools.  Work from the center outward – light to dark.  As you add more colors remember to go back and blend the areas where the colors meet.  I usually do that with the lighter or lightest color.  For this card, I played with Distress Oxide inks by you-know-who.  *gasp*  Stampin’ Up! Classic Stampin’ Pads will work too.  They have a good open time so you can blend.  Work fairly quickly though.
Emboss The Image & The Sentiment

Remove the mask.  Let the background ink dry.  Use an Embossing Buddy to make sure the embossing powder sticks only where desired.  Use Versamark to stamp the dandelion image.  Stamp the sentiment on a separate piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Sprinkle black embossing powder on the image and sentiment.  Remove excess powder and melt the powder using a heat tool.  I used an embossing powder that also contains glitter (non-Stampin’ Up!).  It creates a nice sparkle.

Final Touches
  • Punch, mat and mount – Punch out the sentiment label using the Pretty Label Punch.  Punch a few more out of Pacific Point Cardstock.  Cut them apart to create the mat for the label and adhere them to the label.  Mat the artwork on Whisper White and adhere everything to the card base.
  • Add more bling – add a black rhinestone here and there for a bit more bling and depth.

For those who don’t know – I badly injured the ring finger on my left hand on 8/19.  I met with a surgeon yesterday and while I won’t require immediate surgery, I must immobilize that finger for 7-12 weeks.  We’ll see where we are then.  If all goes well I’ll need PT – if it doesn’t go well I’ll need a bit of surgery.  All of this is a long way of saying that creating and posting are going to be very hard/painful for the next 3 months.  I promise to do my best to keep you updated with Stampin’ Up! news though.  You may want to keep an eye on the Stampin’ With Pixie Facebook page.  It’s easier to post news/sale events on Facebook. Thanks, in advance, for hanging in there with me for the next few months. Take care of yourselves and remember to have a bit of fun every day!  Peace, love and two paws up!
