A quick tutorial on how to use the Stampin’ Up! Lots To Love Framelits box die to make a gift box. I messed up a couple of times while trying to make my first box so I thought I’d share a simple tutorial with you. Hopefully it will save you time, frustration and cardstock. *wink*
Five Easy Steps
Step 1 –
Cut two (2) 4 1/4” x 6 1/2” pieces of cardstock. These are the back and the front of the box.
Step 2 –
Die cut the box front and back from the cardstock pieces using the box die from the Lots to Love Box Framelits set.
Step 3 –
Fold both die cuts along the score lines. Place Tear & Tape adhesive on the “outside” of the side folds and tabs of the back piece only. (See image.) Do not remove the protective cover on the tape. Tip: place the tape as close to the edge of the side folds as possible to ensure they seal tightly.
Step 4 –
Note – Before adhering the top and bottom sides, make sure the end flaps are at opposite ends of the box (see image). Working one side at a time, remove the protective tape cover on the side fold. Very carefully align the edges of the front and back box sides. Make sure the corners are square and everything is straight before pressing the pieces together to adhere them. A misalignment can cause the box to twist so work carefully and slowly. You may find it easier to do this if the back piece is laying on a level work surface. Repeat for the other side of the box. To make sure the sides are tightly adhered, press from the inside of the sides using a pencil, tweezer or some other longer tool so you can reach all the way down the sides.
Step 5 –
Almost done – Remove the protective tape cover from the tabs on the back of the box (aka the bottom end of the box). Fold up the bottom flap and adhere the tabs inside the flap making sure the edges are aligned straight. Slip flap inside the box bottom. Ta dah! You did it. You now have a cute little box ready for decorating and giving.
