A Totally Tubular Treat
These oh-so-cute Holiday Treat Tube Holders are really easy to make. Use them for multiple events and holidays – just switch the Designer Series Paper and embellishments to suite the occasion. Just had a light bulb moment! What about using the Year Of Cheer Suite, sheer ribbon or toile, basic pearls and white candies to make cute (and inexpensive) wedding favors?
Treat Tube Holder Tutorial & Tips
1 – Cut a 3″w x 11″l piece of cardstock. Score it at 5″, 6 1/4″, 9 1/4″ and 10 1/2″.
2 – Punch two holes in the Top section of the holder using a 3/4″ punch. Try to space them evenly on the Top section.
3 – Decorate the holder with Designer Series Paper BEFORE assembly. Add decorative embellishments like ribbon etc after assembly. Tips: One side of the holder is the “front” while the other side is the “inside back” of the holder. Remember to flip the holder over when decorating the two sides. Use the holder Top with the punched holes as a template for where to punch holes on the decorative paper.
4 – Fold the holder along the score lines and use Tear & Tape on the Flap to adhere it to the Back. Tip: Make extra sure that the Top and Bottom of the Holder are level and square before attaching the flap. Otherwise, the holder will be lopsided and fall over even with the tubes in it. I used the Basic Black holder in the following picture because the alignment shows up better. It’s easier to make sure everything is even and level if you lay the holder on its side while assembling it.
The two holders use traditional holiday colors. Oh! Another light bulb moment! Blues, whites and Stampin’ Up! Shimmery White paper with the Carols of Christmas Bundle would make a beautiful treat holder in less traditional holiday colors.
Stamp Santa on Shimmery White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Heat set the ink using a heat tool to make sure it doesn’t run when you color Santa using various Stampin’ Write Markers in coordinating colors.
Stampin’ Up! Goodies Used To Decorate The Holders
It is fun to mix & match Stampin’ Up! products to create. For example I used two different stamp sets to create the tags and cut both out using the Everyday Labels punch. Have some fun experimenting and playing with things like punches. You’ll find they work well cutting out DSP images, stamped sentiments from a variety of stamp sets etc. Makes the Stampin’ Up! products very versatile and cost effective.
Anywho – these are the products I used to decorate the Halloween and Christmas Treat Tube Holders.
Stamp Sets: Spooky Cat, Labels To Love & Cookie Cutter Christmas
Designer Series Paper: Spooky Night DSP & Be Merry DSP
BTW – Did you notice the quilting on the snowflakes etc on the Be Merry DSP I used? Guess what they coordinate with? The Quilted Christmas DSP and Suite! Oh Stampin’ Up! You are so fun to play with!
Tools: Everyday Label Punch & Cookie Cutter Builder Punch
Embellishments: Stitched Felt Embellishments, Quilted Christmas 1/4″ Ribbon, Vintage Crochet Trim*
*The embellishments on the front of the holders are actually free-hanging. I secured them to the decorative ribbon/trim using Basic Black or Whisper White Baker’s Twine. For the pictures, I temporarily fixed the embellishments in place so you could see the detail on them.
Cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, Shimmery White; Stampin’ Classic Ink Pads: Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green; Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad; Adhesives: Tear & Tape, Liquid Multipurpose Glue; Stampin’ Write Markers: Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Basic Gray, Crushed Curry, Smoky Slate, Pink Pirouette.
