Hey All! I’m recovering from a tummy bug this week so I haven’t been crafting much. We’ve had a beautiful snowfall here in central NC that has left everything coated in a marshmallow frosting. It sure brightens my not-feeling-so-hot day. This is the perfect time to share a few videos of some of the Wows from the 2018 Occasions Catalog. What’s a Wow? Something that makes you go “Wow!” when you see it (followed shortly by a “Gotta have it”).
2018 Occasions Designer Series Paper
TheDesigner Series Paper (DSP) in this year’s Occasions Catalog is some of the BEST Stampin’ Up! DSP I have ever seen. Not only are the designs fantastic but the quality of the paper is A-MAZ-ING. I actually like to make 3D projects (bags, boxes etc) and mini albums more than cards. The DSP this year is perfect for those types of projects and anything else you care to make. You really need to see and feel it for yourself to truly appreciate it but this video does a good job of showing off the 2018 Occasions Catalog DSP.
Sunshine, Rainbows and Magical Creatures
Okay – so the first time I saw the Sunshine & Rainbows Bundle I didn’t exactly go wow but I did covet those cloud dies. Since then I have seen projects created that combine the Sunshine & Rainbows Bundle with the Myths & Magic Suite. They are fantastic! Now I’m in the gotta-have-it mood. Probably in my February Stampin’ Up! order. If you want to see some of the wonderfully whimsical things you can create using the Sunshine & Rainbows Bundle and/or the Myths & Magic Suite, search Pinterest or Google them. Speaking of cloud dies…. I’m thinking these dies could be used for other things too. Like whipped topping on an ice cream sunday bowl (the bowl could be made using the rainbow dies). It must be in the snow influence. I keep thinking about marshmallow and whipped toppings. Anyway – the Sunshine & Rainbows stamp set also has some really lovely sentiments in beautiful font. Love the font.

Petal Passion Delight
The Petal Passion Suite is just packed with creative possibilities. The DSP is specially designed to help your imagination run wild by allowing you to create with almost any kind of media you like – from crayons to water color. My favorite – the images are designed to look like they have been hand painted. No matter how you choose to use them – without added color or colored – they will look gorgeous. The stamp and die set is huge. The die set even includes extra decorative dies. Just look at those cute little doodle-bobber embellies! I cannot wait until my Petal Passion goodies arrive. They were in my January order and it has been delayed due to the snow. It should arrive today if Mr. Brown can make it through!
Well these are a few of my favorite Wows from the new catalog. There are so many it’s hard to choose. What are some of yours?

Tutti-Frutti was the winner of the DSP poll a couple of weeks ago. I’ll make a project with it and post it as soon as it arrives. It too is in my snow-delayed January order so hang in there. It’s so bright and sunshiney that I think it will provide a nice mid-winter warmup for us all.
Thanks for stopping by today. Hope you have a great weekend!

Check Out My Lots To Love Framelits Box Tutorial
Sometimes I get a little drifty and the first time I tried to make a box using the Lots To Love You Framelits box die I made it backwards. Still not sure how I really did that but oh well… I made a very short (5 step) tutorial about how to use the Sure Do Love You Framelits box die that includes my lessons-learned tips for success. Check it out here.
Tips & Techniques
Use The Painted With Love Specialty DSP
You can use two pieces of Painted With Love Specialty DSP to make the front and back of the box. Absolutely lovely. Orrrrr you could use a coordinating piece of cardstock (e.g. Calypso Coral) to make the back piece. Saves a piece of the gorgeous Painted With Love Specialty DSP for another project.
Cut A Heart-Shaped Window
Use the heart die in the Sure Do Love You Framelits (see Bundle image below) to cut a window in the center of the box front. I located the center of the box front using my ruler and made a very light pencil mark (because I want to reuse the die-cut heart). Center the heart die over the pencil mark and secure on the paper or use a magnetic platform to hold the die securely in place. Note: Do this BEFORE putting the box together. Just sayin’. I may or may not have learned this the hard way…
Decorating The Window
Cut a piece of acetate large enough to cover the window opening. Adhere the gold heart vinyl sticker from the Painted Love Gold Vinyl Stickers set to the front of the acetate piece BEFORE you tape it to the back of the DSP. Before taping the acetate to the DSP make sure the heart is centered in the window. Did you notice the back of the vinyl sticker is silver? I’m thinking there has to be a way to use this on projects with silver foil elements. Reverse the sticker and back it with acetate before adhering it to your project? Haven’t tried it yet. I’ll let you know how it goes. It might just double the uses of these stickers.
BTW – this set of stickers is FANTABULOUS! So many stickers. So many designs. Thick substantial stickers that hold their shape. Gold metallic shiny wonderfulness.
Frame The WIndow
Use another gold vinyl sticker on the front of the heart window to frame it. The stickers make it so easy to create a professionally finished look. You can do this before the box is assembled or after. Your choice.
Stamp and Cut A Banner
Use the Sure Do Love You stamps to stamp the sentiment in Calypso Coral. Die cut it using the coordinating Lots To Love framelit die. Pop the banner up in front of the window using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The stamp set and framelits are available as a Bundle. Can’t say it often enough – You save 10% when you buy the Bundle. The Bundle is available in clear or wood-mount.
Calypso Coral Sheer Ribbon You Make Me Smile
I really really love this ribbon but at 1/8” it was a bit too narrow for a box this size (box dimensions). So I doubled the bow to give it a bit more heft. (I think I need to work on bow making a bit more.) I added the gold sequin trim just to take the bling over the top. Next time – I’m probably going to use a 3/8″ or 1/2″ wide ribbon or maybe even the 5/8″ seam binding for my bow.
There you go. Box done. Of course, you may want to quality test the chocolates or treats you put in the box. Go ahead! You earned it.
