Share This Sweet Soiree Tote and Share What You Love. This beautiful large tote bag is made using the scrumptious Sweet Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper and the new Love What You Do stamp set. It’s relatively easy to make and sure to draw a “Wow” when you share it with a friend.
Love This Bag – Love This DSP
I fell in love with this tote bag the moment I saw the original. The tote design was created by Linda Parker (Papercraft With Crafty). She used the Sweet Soiree Specialty DSP too (a different design). I was awestruck! The silver metallic embossing makes the beautiful flower images just pop. The tote looks like a designer handbag! I ran right over to the computer and ordered ANOTHER pack of the DSP just so I could CASE the bag. I think I’ve mentioned before that, IMHO, Sweet Soiree is one of the BEST Specialty DSPs Stampin’ Up! has ever produced. It is retiring at the end of May and I’m going to miss it. That’s A Big Bag!
The tote bag is big! It measures approximately 8 1/2″w x 7 3/4″h x 2 1/4″d. It’s hefty too because the DSP is heavy weight. While it may look complicated, it’s really not. It’s just a matter of trimming, scoring, burnishing and assembling. Even making the handles is pretty easy. Just a little bit of making sure they are centered before punching and adhering. I promise – anyone can make this beautiful tote! Linda provides an excellent step-by-step video tutorial on her YouTube channel. Just search for “Tote.”
Punches and Dies Make Light Work – Use tools to make construction easier. The handles are made using the 2 1/4″ Punch and the largest circle in the Layering Circles Framelits set. Fold a piece of DSP in half and trim the top using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch to create the gift tag.
Glue Gives You Wiggle Time – Use Liquid Multi-Purpose Glue when assembling the bag to give yourself a little bit of wiggle time. This helps make sure the sides are straight and the edges meet properly. The liquid glue also holds up well to the wear-n-tear a bag undergoes.
Make It Your Own – Decorate the tote your way. Use a different design from the Sweet Soiree DSP. Add different embellishments. Use a different color of coordinating cardstock for the handles and sides. Make the tote your own.
Love What You Do – The Love What You Do stamp set had the perfect sentiment for my gift tag. This set, part of the Share What You Love Suite, has delicate flower and leave images along with four (!) sentiment stamps in a hand-written font. Just lovely. This Love What You Do stamp set isn’t available individually until the new catalog launches June 1st but you can purchase it now as part of the Share What You Love Suite special pre-order opportunity. The pre-order details are here.

Breaking Up Is Hard To Do
I am so going to miss the retiring Stampin’ Up! core colors! I’m trying to move on though. The Stampin’ Up! Color Revamp with the new and returning colors is coming June 1. The 2018-2020 In Color Collection arrives then too. You all know I’m a purple girl and there are two new purples – Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather. *sigh* See all the new/returning colors and learn all about the 2018 Color Revamp here.
Here’s the takeaway – retiring color products SELL OUT FAST. This year is no exception. Don’t tell anyone but I’m stocking up on ink pads, reinkers, markers etc in my fav colors. Just because a color retires doesn’t mean you have to stop using them. The products last FOREVER so don’t be afraid to hoard your favorites. You better get them soon though. They are only available until May 31 or while supplies last. To make it easier for you to find all the color products, I’ve included shopping links by color at the bottom of this post. While shopping don’t forget to purchase Designer Series Paper that coordinates with the retiring colors. For example – Sweet Soiree coordinates beautifully with Marina Mist.
